About Me:

This summer, I got married and am thrilled to be back at Vivian as Mrs. Hoffmann! Although it will not be void of challenges and hard work, we will also have so much fun exploring new technology and authentic task through learning. This 2019-2020 year is going to be our BEST year yet.

I’m still so inspired by the tight-knit community of parents, learners, and staff here at Vivian. There are so many amazing things happening here and I am truly honored to be a part of it.

Curriculum Highlights:   Back to School Presentation

As an educator, the most important thing is not only to love students and help them grow as human beings, but also to hold my students to extremely high standards of learning.  You can always do more and go farther than you think you can. Here is what to look forward to in each subject.

Math:

In math, we will dig deep into curriculum with fractions and mixed numbers, all operations with decimals, order of operations, area and volume, coordinate planes, measurement and data, and geometry.

Language Arts:

In reading and writing, we will enjoy a wide spectrum of rich texts and novels, mixing both fiction and nonfiction pieces regularly. We will master writing skills with continuous practice with the writing process. In writing, we will cover genres including narrative, informational and expository, persuasive.

Social Studies:

In 5th grade, we have the opportunity to visit Young Ameritowne. During this financial literacy unit, students will explore real-life practices and have an opportunity to learn about economic projects, including fundraising. In Social Studies, we will also learn about The Roots of America, the American Revolution, and the United States Constitution.
